I hear there will be a native Apple Silicon version early next year. Since I dumped Adobe and switched to Affinity Photo I have had to use PhotoLine to employ ColorPerfect, and while it works... I'll be happy when I can make it work in AP.

Welcome Chris,

if you have the time to give it a spin in its current state I’d very much appreciate it. ColorPerfect 3 does in fact run inside Affinity Photo, but it remains what I’d call an experimental host. The situation is that Affinity implements enough of the Photoshop plug-in API for us to make it work, but not all of it, and Serif sometimes changes things from one build to the next. On Windows it’s quite straightforward: TIFFs made with MakeTiff open and behave as expected. On macOS it’s more complicated: Affinity Photo only started passing us the open file path properly as of version 2.6.3, so earlier versions will keep asking you to locate the original file. There are also quirks with color management in the preview on macOS — it always uses sRGB internally, which means that on wide-gamut displays the live preview may look off even though the saved result is correct.

That’s why we describe Affinity support as “usable, but experimental.” It’s not that it doesn’t work — it does, and I think we’re the only plug-in to even manage working live sliders on macOS — but it hasn’t yet seen the amount of long-term testing we have with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and PhotoLine. So please don’t hesitate to try it out in your Affinity workflow, just keep in mind that Serif’s next update could introduce changes that we’d need to adapt to. Feedback from users like you is what will help us stabilize things.

Since you mentioned PhotoLine: the Huber brothers have always been most welcoming to us, and we feel connected to them more as fellow developers than to any of the big players. What they’ve built over the years is nothing short of amazing and it has our deep respect. And if you use ColorPerfect 3 Meta inside PhotoLine, you’ll even find a dedicated “ColorPerfect Import” entry in the File menu.

The news about CP3, Apple Silicon, and future improvements is incredibly exciting.

I use ColorPerfect daily, and when teaching my students about black and white editing, I’m always excited to showcase the power of CP’s Linear Raw conversion.

Hearing that CP3 is on the way, with significantly improved slider response, is fantastic news.

As a dedicated user of ColorPerfect, I would be very keen to participate in the trial for the upcoming CP3 version.
