Hello! I am a photography enthusiast who frequently shoots on film. Almost all of my negatives are sent to a lab for processing, and I then use a heavily modified Epson GTX980 scanner to generate TIFF raw files. Afterwards, I personally handle the color correction of these files.

At present, I mainly work on Windows 11 using Photoshop for orange mask removal, and I purchased ColorPerfect 2 for this purpose so that I can carry out further adjustments. However, in this process I often encounter technical difficulties, and many of my questions—such as how to choose the correct color space or how to set up different film types—cannot be answered even in the official FAQ.

I have learned that ColorPerfect 3 will bring many improvements, which makes me very eager to experience the performance optimizations and new features it will provide. Therefore, I sincerely hope to gain access to the beta test of ColorPerfect 3. This would not only allow me to better adapt the software to my workflow, but I would also be glad to provide active feedback on any issues I encounter and offer suggestions during real-world use, in order to contribute to the further refinement of the software.

I’m so happy to see you here after having first met on Xiaohongshu. It’s wonderful to have another beta tester on the Windows platform. I myself do much of my editing work on Windows workstations, so that gives us a head start there. And while it’s also great that so many productive users work with macOS in various versions, this will be fun and a very welcome addition.

Personally, I just purchased an Epson GT-X980 from Japan, since the Epson V850 Pro seems to have been discontinued. After having used a V700 for several years for testing, I figured it would be best to have one of these — especially because many users hold it in high regard for 4×5-inch and larger formats, which my Super Coolscan 9000 cannot handle. So we have that in common as well.

Regarding the technical difficulties you mention with ColorPerfect, it’s true that there’s a learning curve — but these things can be mastered, and you’ve come to the right place. Sadly, it’s also true that I haven’t yet written all of the technical documents and articles I have in mind. That will need to improve in the future. For now, I’m very happy and fortunate that the forum idea has been met with such positive feelings by so many early access users. That makes me confident that you’ve come to the right place to ask and discuss such questions.

As for choosing RGB working spaces and grayscale profiles, this has been greatly simplified with ColorPerfect 3. The requirements of ColorPerfect 2 — which were quite sensible but required deeper understanding — have been relaxed somewhat. We can certainly discuss that further in another forum thread.
