Hi this is Baywatch from Rednote. Since 2023, I have been shooting both digital and film simultaneously. After short experimenting with bad scans from SP3000 / Noritsu 500 which were lack of maintaince, I began exploring the Hasselblad X5 scanner and the process of manually negative conversions.

During this journey, I discovered ColorPerfect. I noticed its outstanding performance in color—especially in tones and saturation. This feature made it stand out from other options, and I’ve been using it in MacOS, with its 'rough' UI though.

Currently, I am using the following cameras: Nikon F2, Nikon F80s, Nikon L35AD, and Olympus u2. Lenses include the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 G, Nikon 24-120mm f/4 G, Nikon 50mm f/2 Nikkor-H, and Leica Summicron-R 50mm f/2 E55. For the digitals, I'm using Leica Q-P and Canon r8. Sometimes I shoot with both film and digital to enjoy the subtle difference.

It is exciting to see the recent release of CP3, particularly after my recent trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. I shot over ten rolls and I cannot wait to see how the images look with CP3 processed. I will provide feedbacks with these new rolls and some of my archives shot with Rollei 35s.

I would be grateful if I could get a trial version to explore its features. I also use NLP, and I could provide some comparisions if you are interested.

Attached a few samples of my processed images.

Welcome, Baywatch — and thank you for the thoughtful introduction!

It’s always a pleasure to meet someone who works with both film and digital cameras side by side and truly appreciates the subtle differences between them. You’ve clearly built a versatile setup — from the Nikon F-series bodies to the Leica Q-P and Canon R8 — and that range of tools will make for an especially interesting point of comparison once you start exploring ColorPerfect 3.

Your story about moving from lab scanners like the SP-3000 and Noritsu 500 to the Hasselblad X5 and then to manual inversion mirrors what many here went through in search of consistency and control. The fact that you stayed with it long enough to reach that level says a lot. ColorPerfect 3 was designed exactly for photographers like you — those who have seen the limits of other approaches and are ready to work from a more faithful starting point.

I’ll reach out to you by email shortly with early-access details. In the meantime, feel free to browse the forum and share a few of your sample images in the “Film Scans and Workflows” section. I’m sure others will enjoy comparing notes, especially those who also work with the X5 or hybrid analog-digital setups.

Yellowstone is a wonderful place — we had the privilege of visiting in 2017. I also liked your black-and-white photo of the reading girl, with its multiple layers created by the glass and reflections.

Welcome aboard — I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ll discover with ColorPerfect 3.

Baywatch, welcome to On Raw Photography.

You'll see that Color Perfect 3 will surprise you.

At least, that's how it affected me.

Your old photos will take on new life, and your new ones will shine with their own light.

The colors are ones you've never seen before, ones that are even hard to imagine.

Yes, I know it sounds like an advertising slogan, but I'm a user just like you, and I really mean what I say.

See for yourself if I'm wrong.
